NEURO ECOSYSTEM

About Neuro

Neuro is an innovative, neuroscience-informed social platform that improves digital literacy, helps people interact with information, and mobilises knowledge

NEURO PTY LTD

As a values-based start-up, we are building a sustainable socio-technical system using ethical technology.

WHO ARE WE FOR?

Scientists, journalists, specialists, educators, ethicists, technologists, therapists, publishers, advocates, parents and citizens committed to positive change.

WHAT IS NEURO?

  • A humanity-inspired community and ecosystem
  • Neuroscience-supported social network
  • Knowledge mobilisation platform
  • Two-sided user-generated content marketplace
  • Community infrastructure for digital transformation of the internet
  • A diverse, distributed, neuroethical Think Tank.

WHAT IS NEURO?

  • A civic space with search tools that meet people’s everyday needs in a simple, unbiased, compassionate, individualised and fair way while providing them with security, agency and autonomy over their data and identity.
  • A back-end social space for governing of the interface where community members can learn, share, collaborate, and improve their knowledge of matters concerning the internet (such as internet regulation, Section 230, takedown systems, social media algorithms, misinformation, and policies on topics such as downstream data linkage, handling of psychographical data as brain data, nudge disclosures, and unethical use of digital exhaust).
  • Two-sided user-generated content marketplaces that attribute value to content creators as mobilisers of knowledge, honouring their needs for livelihood, mental health, and privacy.
  • A humanity-inspired implementation that focused on neural literacy en masse, dedicated collectively to helping each individual person approach, interact with, and understand the way their own brain interfaces with online information.
  • Ongoing development in consultation with ethical technologists, systems thinkers and neuroethicist in a distributed structure that is both responsive to latest advancements, and in which rewards encourage pro-social behaviours and scientific contributions in an atomic network.
  • Downloadable social graphs that enable ecosystem participants to monitor their own echo chambers, Dunbar groups, and clustering of social attributes within their networks
  • A data model that gives primacy to the parts of us that make us uniquely human, preserving and honouring diversity of the human condition and emotional well-being within lived experience.
  • Technological tools that allow a person to take their individualised neural preferences across the internet with them, providing agency in how a person views their own individualised information such as pronouns, triggers, cultural preferences, person-first language vs identity-first language, and literacy level.
  • A digitised barter system enabling those with value in information and time to contribute and benefit alongside other values-aligned digital citizens free of financial limitations.
  • Financial, academic or social benefits generated for scientists, journalists, specialists, moderators and citizens who contribute knowledge, context or quality-checking to the information ecosystem and work together for aggregated results.

WHO IS NEURO?

  • Globally distributed, values-aligned leadership that earns psychological trust and belonging, generated as a by-product of radical transparency at all levels of operation.
  • Engineers with the skill and insight to care for the architecture, data model and feedback loops that allow the community to achieve their personal goals whilst also aligning with shared goals of the system.
  • A data ethics committee dedicated to ongoing audit processes across multiple levels of scale that assess algorithms, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and data processing, sharing de-identified results back to the community who gives life to the platform.
  • An operational team with the ability to pivot and integrate the latest technological and scientific advancements that intersect with ethics, systems thinking, and brain science.
  • Agility to work with and integrate responsive and responsible partnerships and open lines of communication with Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry leaders.
  • Values-aligned internal stakeholders operating to a triple bottom line of ecosystem health, social development and economic benefit
  • A Think Tank including ethical technologists, systems thinkers and neuroethicists who have the insight to nurture a measurable, replicable, positive ecosystem for everyone
  • Caretakers who take an oath of stewardship over technology, science, data and operations, preparing for an exit to community so that such the interface can one day be a community-owned civic space, governed and directed by its own participants.

Today, data are indivisible from our online interactions. They are the quiet mirror world that represent each of us in technological spaces, often categorising us unfairly or by factors we would not use to define ourselves. Neuro’s data model is different. Participants in our communities are more valuable than the data they provide, so we have built our ecosystem from the core outwards to have data work for you, helping to build your knowledge, facilitate meaningful interaction, and nurture deep understanding. We know that every brain is unique, and the way we view the world and the information in it affects the state of our everyday personal experiences.

Neuro provides places for you to engage in sharing, learning or friendly discussion with people the same or different from yourself. We have created our technologies to nurture growing brains, digital well-being, positive social interactions, open-mindedness, and mobilisation of knowledge that meets you where you’re at.

Triple Bottom Line

As a social business, Neuro works towards a triple bottom line of Ecosystem Health, Social Development and Economic Benefit. Our sustainable tri-focus is reflected in the scientific studies that drive our quest for life improvement, and the metrics that inform our data model and operations.

Our Board and investors have a responsibility to guide the economic benefits for the ecosystem, ensuring systems integrity and that all ecosystem participants prosper and have a share in the outcome.

Our Brain Trust and Think Tank guide specific aspects of social development within our ecosystem, aligning values and features to make meaningful improvements in the lives of those who use our emerging technologies.

Our Peers, Volunteer Value Creators and Ecosystem Participants all play valuable roles in helping ensure ecosystem health is maintained, even as they earn marketplace incomes, connect with their communities, learn and share knowledge, and use the multitude of tools our platform offers.

As adherents to Complex Living Systems, we’ve built our triple bottom line not only into the functions of each of our team members and ecosystem players, but also into our architectural systems themselves. It’s said that living systems have “purposes”, and non-living systems have “functions”. Because sustainability is at the heart of all we do, we nurture and facilitate both the purposes of the people who join us, and the functions they serve as valued contributors to our social system. Whilst we recognise the importance of network effects, we also know how crucial it is to grow the right way, with integrity and moral structure that makes Neuro a worthy place for you to spend your thoughts and time.

Neuro

A Humanity-Inspired Social Ecosystem

Neuro Team

Brain Trust Team

Our diverse team of brain-conscious representatives see the world through a variety of different neurolenses, valuing technology, ancestors, social connection and everything in between.

Together we address ‘the alignment problem’ in sociotechnical system design by discussing and practicing our values every day, then lending them to the architecture, data management and business modelling that we’re entrusted with the design of. As a Brain Trust, we listen to our families, our communities, our colleagues and our networks to bring the voices of the people into the heart of the technology we are all building together.

In addition to the Neuro Ecosystem Values, as a team of partners we pledge to enact three additional team values that are crucial to transparent functioning in our work:

We support Truth: Honest, collective knowledge that is offered with context and meaning, void of conflicts and secret motives;

We support Democracy: Honouring both freedom and order, with order hierarchies selected by free citizens who are dedicated to improving social interactions; and

We support Stewardship: Serving as facilitators of privacy and self-data, while supporting open knowledge and connectivity to strengthen civic spaces and the common good.
